Garet Fryar Hedlund is a proposal coordinator for Child Trends. In this capacity, she is responsible for coordinating a portfolio of pre-award activities, including analyzing requests for proposals and preparing and submitting proposals. She also supports business development efforts that assess the alignment of Child Trends’ range of service offerings and areas of expertise with opportunities from federal, state, and private foundations. 
 
Garet previously worked at Child Trends as a senior research assistant and a policy & research analyst in the child welfare program area. She also contributed to early childhood, youth development, and communications projects in her prior roles. More recently, she worked in direct services with children, teaching toddlers in a child care center and primary age students at a nonprofit Montessori school. 
 
Garet holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology from Wake Forest University, where she focused on childhood development and education.
